Importance of praying...together

Zac and I had every intention of having a dynamic prayer life as a couple when we first got married. Somehow that intention did not play out in everyday real life. Sure, it sounded good in theory and on occasion here and there we lived up to the intention but never with any consistency...until now. Being in a new (very different) environment with no family, no friends, and no home church (yet) makes you rely even more on each other and more importantly on God. We always felt that we would grow closer as a family if the Lord took us on this journey, and He is definitely doing just that. Zac and I have had many conversations about life and our goals as a family since moving here to Alaska. Just the other night after praying for Avery and putting him to bed, Zac brings his bible and sits down beside me and pulls out a card, a bowl of water and a towel. He went on to tell me the Lord had laid it on his heart to ask for my forgiveness for anything he had said or done in the past that had been hurtful, and that he wanted to wash my feet as a symbol of his love and service to me. We talked about how the bible says though one may be overpowered, two may defend themselves, but a three fold cord is not easily broken. We had been working as seperate entities instead of combining our cords, and becoming one strong cord. We decided to make a conscious effort to read and pray together so that our prayers will be more effective, and also that Avery will get a glimpse of what a godly family looks like. If we don't show him, who will?

Thank you :) We are doing really good and enjoying Alaska. Avery is getting so big. I can't believe he will be a year old at the end of next month! Hope you and the family are doing well!
